SOFIIA MATVIIENKO

Sofiia Matviienko, a remarkable flutist, was born in the picturesque town of Pereshchepino in central Ukraine. Her journey in the world of music began at a young age when a doctor discovered her speech problems and recommended playing the recorder as a therapeutic measure. Little did Sofiia know that this introduction to the recorder would ignite a lifelong passion for music.
As the first musician in her family, Sofiia embarked on a self-driven quest for knowledge. Utilizing the vast resources available on the Internet, she immersed herself in master classes on YouTube and filmed lessons from renowned musicians. Recognizing the importance of continuous learning and growth, Sofiia actively participates in international flute competitions and summer flute schools, seeking opportunities to expand her knowledge and connect with extraordinary flute players from around the world.
At the age of 9, Sofiia transitioned to the classical flute and relocated to Poltava to pursue her studies. With unwavering dedication, she graduated with honors from three different music schools, specializing in vocal, piano, and flute. At the remarkable age of 14, Sofiia performed her first solo concert in Italy, capturing the hearts of the audience and commemorating the event with a CD release. Since then, she has achieved numerous victories in competitions and graced the stages of international festivals in Argentina, the United States, Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Bosnia, the United Kingdom, and many other countries.
Sofiia's exceptional talent and relentless pursuit of excellence caught the attention of renowned educational institutions. She received a full scholarship to study at the prestigious Purcell School in the United Kingdom, and her exceptional abilities were further recognized when she was honored with the ABRSM award at the Royal Academy of Music, studying under the tutelage of William Bennett. Continuously seeking growth and artistic development, Sofiia now studies with her new teacher, Samuel Coles.
In recent years, Sofiia has claimed victory in prestigious competitions such as Tunbridge Wells, Rickmansworth Young Musician, Bromsgrove Young Musician, and the BFS in the United Kingdom. Beyond her personal achievements, she remains committed to making a positive impact on society and actively participates in charity events with organizations like UCA-UK and others.
Recognized for her exceptional talent, Sofiia has also become an artist for LefreQue products since 2021. Throughout her journey, she has been supported by esteemed institutions such as the Rotary Club of DusseldorfSchlostrum, the Yamaha Scholarship Program, the Hattori Foundation, and the Vere Music Fund, who have recognized her immense potential and dedication to her craft.
